Reflections on Joining HAVEN's Board

A Journey Towards Empowering Victims

By Lyn Raible

Nancy Fisher and I had a profound discussion about women's issues when she suggested I apply to the HAVEN’s Board. This suggestion surprised me, for I had never truly considered the inner workings and structure of HAVEN until that very moment. However, the idea seemed like a natural progression in my journey, especially after years of referring patients to HAVEN for their exceptional services.

Becoming a Board member felt like a seamless transition. I am deeply admiring HAVEN’s mission and the remarkable impact it has on individuals' lives. HAVEN provides life-changing services to all victims of domestic violence and sex trafficking, offering them support, hope, and a path to a better future. The organization's commitment to helping victims recognize their inherent worth and aiding them in their journey toward a safer, more fulfilling life resonates deeply with me.

HAVEN’s work is not just about immediate relief but empowering individuals to rebuild their lives with dignity and strength. Their comprehensive services, from shelter and counseling to legal assistance, embody a holistic approach to healing and recovery. As a Board member, I can contribute to this incredible mission, ensuring that HAVEN remains a beacon of hope for those in need.

Reflecting on this journey, I realize that joining HAVEN’s Board is more than just a role; it is a commitment to advocacy and transformation. It is about standing alongside survivors, offering them unwavering support, and championing their right to live free from violence and exploitation. I am honored to be part of an organization that changes lives and uplifts the human spirit, helping victims rebuild their identities and futures with confidence and courage.

In conclusion, my involvement with HAVEN as a Board member is a testament to my dedication to making a positive difference in the lives of those affected by domestic violence and sex trafficking. It is a privilege to be part of an organization that embodies compassion, resilience, and empowerment, and I look forward to contributing to its ongoing success and impact.
